the console is fully repairable replace the x-clamps and it will should fire right up. Use the search button and you will be able to find out a load more about E74 and how to fix it

If your warranty seal is still good, I would send it to Microsoft rather than trying to fix it yourself.

my 360 was flashed, and then it got the 3 rod. I still sent it in to MS, without even getting a new warranty sticker, and two weeks exactly after I sent it I received a refurb. So you might as well atleast try to send it in. What's the worst that will happen, you'll be in the same exact place where you are now?

need jtag help? Xbox 360 console repair? PM me or chat

These new members drive me insane.......

stuartbat do not spread bad information here, we don't need people searching for e74 then finding your post.

Quote:
E74: AV cable error... There is a problem with the AV cable, try using a different AV cable. If the cable is known to be working then there is a 90% chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip connected directly to the AV cable) in rare cases it is the GPU.

In very very rare cases it's the gpu, i'd say less than 1%. It is always the ANA/HANA chip and it is a pain to fix permanently. My best advice is pay bhetrick to reflow it for you.

Eh yeah that kind of goes without saying, but if you can't get ms to fix it don't try repairing it yourself (it just makes you angry). The ana/hana chip won't reflow just by overheating the 360. I had a halo edition that looked like it was repaired quite a few times but the symptoms would always come back.

So learn from my mistakes and get it reflowed if ms won't fix it.
