Ok so I have a 360 with a Samsung drive(is that the Sammy everyone talks about?). I am pretty sure its flashed with LT+.
Now I personally do NOT care at all about playing online, I will never plug my xbox to the internet. Hell, I suspect its already flagged, though not banned yet. I am guessing the upgrade will not cause my XBox to be banned if I never go online right?
Keeping that in mind, if I upgrade to the latest firmware(got Dead Island), will it be a problem for me? I hear Samsung drives are not affected. Keep in mind I dont really have the time or resources to flash back to original firmware ect. I just want to know if I can update as is, and still play my backups.
I apologize, I know this will be asked a lot, but I have to say the FAQs are immensely confusing for someone who is not part of the scene.
no you just can't up date it and then play backups it will reflash your drive to stock FW you NEED to get your key then flash to stock, update it but not with the disk, you run the chance of getting stuck in a loop. so download it from the xbox site. then update your drive to lt 1.91. and yes sammys are samsungs. oh and don't forget to update all your ap 2.5 games.
whoa hey there. DO NOT update your xbox without having the obw for your drive! The update will re-flash your drive, and if you don't have the obw, you have just bricked your entire xbox. (happened to me)
Cooll903 is right, you should probably just download the update from the xbox website and install it via disk/usb if you don't want your console to be banned.
The latest firmware for the samsung drives is LT 1.9, the 1.91 is for drives that have ap 2.5 checks (one reason samsung drives are awesome).
Hey man, grab the latest dash update (13599) from MS website, then flash your Samsung drive (yes, that's the SAMMY) to stock firmware. The stock will be in the folder when you ultimately get the newest firmware. Be aware, you want to make sure you find the CORRECT stock fw before you go backwards.
