Faulty DVD drive

The DVD drive on one of my xboxes has stopped working

It will eject and close no probs but it doesnt even sound as if it is trying to read the disc

What could be wrong with it? Which bits go wrong with DVD drives?

Is it just going to be a new laser or can other things go wrong woth them?

A new Benq drive is only £15 anyway so im not too fussed if i have to replace the whole drive

from past experience, i would just replace the drive. sounds like the drive motor has gone bad.

Open up the drive and check it out. The laser could be dirty and you can clean it with some rubbing alcohol.

I had an issue with a BenQ like this. I ended up having to adjust the laser strength (POT Calibration).
