Hey everyone. I apologize if this is not in the right place, but I am really stuck.

I have followed some tutorials on here, but it seems that they all leave at least one bit of important information out. Here is what I need to know/understand.

Do I have to have a modchip in my xbox360 or can I play burned games without through updating the firmware on the xbox's DVD drive?

Second is it possible to use a program on your PC that will change some type of code so when you burn your .iso game file onto your DVD+RL it will act as if your xbox's DVD drive is already firmwared, but in reality it isn't its just done individually on the burned disc, IE I don't have to actually update my firmware for the DVD drive I can instead just do it on an individual basis when I burn each game?

I apologize if this has been answered before, but I have never gotten a clear answer. I have heard both ways, but don't know which is more reliable and the better way to go - either firmware the DVD drive in the xbox or use a program like DVDInfoPro to change the firmware on my burned game so it will work.

I hope I can do the latter. The tutorials I have read for updating the firmware on the DVD drive seems that it requries a lot of stuff I dont have such as a SATA PCI Card and in general seems a bit to complex for me.

You do not need a mod chip, but the method of flashing the dvd drive is different depending on what drive you have.

You cannot do the second thing you mentioned.

Thanks good to know! I have the Samsung drive in my Xbox not the LG so what method do you know of that I should follow? Just look for any tutorial or what works? Thanks!

Personally i'd download the latest jungle flasher as it covers all makes of drive although if you want to go online i'd wait till LT is released for your dvd

Just a FYI

Do not buy any programs specifically for copying xbox games (DVDInfoPro etc), they are all rip offs. You can get the required software for free!
