download the latest dosflash, hp usb disk format tool, and windows 98 boot files,
open format program, click your usb stick and the box that says make a bootable dos stick, and use the windows 98 files, start and theres your dos stick. just put dosflash 16 files to the root of the usb and boot it up.
Google dosflash 32, no need to make bootable disk anymore, it will automatically find you drive too, as long as its powered up, i also suggest half tray open aswell, hope this helps!!

have problems with dosflash32 so thats why i said to use a bootable disk to dos, as it never hangs the system or anything! :)

It's hard to go wrong with DOS ;) The only thing that could possibly go bad is your power going out while you're flashing using DOS, and even then it's still recoverable. If you have problems with dosflash32, then do as tez90 says. It works great.
