Well, my 360 finally gave out so I purchased another one. I had been flashing it myself because it was a BenQ drive and was pretty simple. My "new" box has a Liteon drive so I'm wondering if it would be to my advantage to purchase the necessary tools and flash it myself? Or would it be easier to find someone to do it? I've read thru the tuts and it seems like it's a bit trickier flashing Liteons and I'd hate to screw it up. Any advice?

That depends on your soldering abilities. A lot of people are afraid to attempt to solder, but the Lite-On procedure is easy as cake, as long as you read and follow the procedure.

I say give it a shot.

I've actually done soldering before and I'm pretty comfortable with it. Do all the methods of flashing require soldering? I thought I'd seen solderless methods using certain probes. Also, how often do the Lite Ons have to be flashed? is it the same as a Benq ie. after dash updates and the such? And when they do have to be re-flashed, do I have to go thru the entire procedure of soldering or just re-flash it?
Sorry for all the "noob" questions, but it was just so easy with that BenQ!

man i would be pretty sad if i had to flash a lite-on. they used to be solder-free to flash but apparently those methods are called "legacy" methods, and are very specific to the drive. download the most recent jungleflash guide though, and it'll tell you exactly how to flash the lite-on you have, and you can decide whether or not you want to invest in a probe to dump the obw
