Should I flash or mod my xbox Which is easier? what's the pros and cons of each method. is there a difference between them?
By The Way, just to clear this up immediatly:
i do not play xbox live so there's no point in warning me about being banned from it. it wont be a problem.
Search ebay for a kreon drive. It works great for backing up games (that you don't intend on playing on live) via xbox backup creator. As for the cheaper way to mod, eebeejay hit the nail on the head. Flashing a drive is relatively easy nowadays. There are numerous tutorials on here to help you get on your way. Google jungleflasher.pdf and you should be good to go. It explains how to flash step by step.

I agree, flashing is alot more effective. Modding your Xbox 360 could potiently lead to over heating your system. I have my Xbox 360 flashed with the LT and use a Samgsung Kreon drive V1.0. I use Xbox Backup Creator V2.9 and have never had any issues. You can look on youtube and find videos on backup your games. Also don't forget to run your .iso files through AGBX 360 and manually patch the SSv2 being kreon drives don't recongize them. I also recommend any Pioneer DL burner to burn the games, being Pioneer automatically bitsets them to DVD ROM. Hope this helps.

Really? Post some links, I have never heard of this. If anything its more efficient on cooling as you can alter your fan speed to get your xbox to run cooler.
@OP
If you have a JTAGable system, then you can mod it for less than £10! (Providing you already have a soldering iron). JTAG is the best mod IMHO
