Hey guys I'm looking to flash update my friends xbox's disk drive which has already been flashed to play back ups. When I opened it I found it was a LiteOn but apparently he never got a key from it. He doesn't know what he used to do it. Can anyone tell me what he did to it? It's already banned from xbox live and needs a activation disc to play backups.
The mra hack needs to be soldered, my friend told me he did nothing more than hook it up to a sata port on his computer and run a program. I'm not asking how to flash it with the current method. I'm just trying to figure out what program he ran.
There really isnt any way to do a liteon by just hooking it up with a sata cable. The easiest method (without buying expensive equipment) is the PMT probe method.

he most probably used jungleflasher, if you go back to the same computer that was used to read and flash the liteon drive, the key might still be in the dvd database.

for the first liteon revisions after the 74xxx drives there was a software solution to get the key, no probe was needed. for later drives, soldering was definitely required.
so it looks like it is important to know which liteon it is, and when it was flashed. if it has lt on it, you need a mra hack (or buy expensive stuff). if it has an ancient ixtreme firmware, you might get an easy dump via jungleflasher. i suggest to take a read into the jungleflasher manual, it gives you options how to get a dump of the current fw. if you are lucky, it might work for you
