So I have a BenQdvd drive in my 360, it is a VAD6038. In all honesty I am totally lost in this sea of information. I have Jungleflasher and im using an intel ICH8 chipset, I just dont know what I'm doing wrong. I tried flashing a Hitachi 78 but I couldn't get that to work either. The problem is the drive isn't showing up in windows. I have rebooted the machine with the xbox on and connected but I still got the same issue, it's as if the drive isnt even connected. What is really confusing me is that using my laptop and a usb to SATA adapter I was able to get farther, The drive would show up but not work properly, it needed a driver. I'm just very lost, I've tried looking around on the sites but there is just so much information, I can't tell what is valid or not. So could anybody give this newb some help?
So its because of my chipset? Ok that makes sense, and from what I see a via card isn't too expensive so I guess its a worthy investment, but I remember reading somewhere that an Intel ICH8 would work?
It can be just Jungleflasher as well; its not as stable as some may think.
When I flashed my Hitachi 47, Jungleflasher had one hell of a time detecting it... Though this may be because I used an on board Sata connection and not the VIA 6421 card.
But the only way I could tell it was actually being detected was to hook it up, re-boot into my bios and check the chipset settings, it gave me my onboard connections and from there I noticed there was an odd drive, not hdd so I knew that was my Hitachi, but still jungleflasher still didn't detect it... (did this while the xbox was still powered on; no connectivity kit either).
I honestly do not believe your chipset could be the issue, unless its like 10+ yrs old... but those are my thoughts.
Just when i was ready to take my mboard of my xbox and snap it I gave the detect all ports including non-ide from i think the mtx 32 tab... this allowed many more port options available and I was able to find it... most people will only have at most like 8 ports in the drop-down... I had 16, so it took a bit to find it but I did.
No money spent, gotta love the firmware too, work like a charm.
