Flashing benq drive with laptop or any help??

My baby recently discovered the xbox and broke the dvd drive (wont open or close & is completely jammed up). I ordered a new one and followed instructions on Xboxslave, to take my old chip out and put it on the new drive so it would work with the Xbox. Well it will not read a disc now. I do not have a desktop computer nor do I have access to one. I cant seem to find any for sure information on whether you can successfully flash a Phillips-Benq drive with a laptop. If anyone has any suggestions for me so that I can fix this that would be great.

if the drive was not new, i would try cleaning the laser, and or replacing the laser with the old drive you had.
