Flashing BENQ VAD6038 DVD drive

This is a very noob question coming from someone who is a huge amateur when it comes to the 360. My 360 (an Elite from late 2007/early 2008) has the BENQ VAD6038 DVD drive I believe and I'm not sure about the flashability of it if you will. There is a local ad on craigslist thats says the guy will flash any 360(including mine) for $30 while you wait/watch. Is this a decent deal? Is this the normal going rate for flashing or is this guy more than likely going to destroy my 360. Any advice is appreciated.

flashing is super easy and not going to destroy anything. $30 is a fair price too, i charge $40 :)

The Benq is by far the easiest drive to flash. I'd say $30 is more than fair, for a Benq I've been known to go as low as $20, as it takes literally 5 minutes including system disassembling.

He literally cannot ruin a Benq drive via flashing. They can be recovered from anything on the software side, as long as he correctly pulls the drive key.

If you're really worried, have him test your key first by spoofing it onto another drive after he pulls it, that way you know for sure the key is the correct one.

Thanks guys, I'll call him up after the Holidays then. I'm guessing I have the BENQ drive, I looked at the comparison chart with the different disc trays and thats the one I matched. lol.
