http://www.myxboxspot.com/forums/xbox-360-hard-modding/523-how-flash-benq-ixtreme-1-5-using-jungleflasher.html

im going to by this right now and this seems pretty good but i don't know what version my tray is i scratched it off a long time ago when i flashed it over 1 year ago..... Now does anyone know where i can get a CK3 if i need to get one?? i have a sata cable right now just not that part =[ and if there is a way i can do it without a ck3 and without grounding anything can you help me out please

You dont need a ck3 for the a benq you may need a via card as im not up to date on using sata straight from motherboard anymore, i have a via and i havnt had a chance to try my motherboard sata.

if you read the guide for the jungleflasher you may have a better idea of how to flash just using your sata and your xbox to power up your drive.

my very first flash was done using a xbox to power the drive it was tricky getting the half open trick to work so be patient!!! trust me it can be done.

make sure to download jungleflash and the guide and read it before you do anything it will tell you if you need anything

also i buy most of my flashing hardware form this site http://www.ck3.co.uk/

sorry my knowledge is limited on what a powers strip is...

I read a thread on hear a long while back on what everyones favorite flashing hardware is and i went with some users opinions on ck3 and i have not had to change it since only updated my probe!

but if you can power your drive up and connect it to your pc you need nothing else to flash just follow the guide!

Unlocking the drive.
Before we can do anything to the drive, it must be in Vendor Mode (status 0x73), the majority
of the unlock methods are found under MTKFlash32 tab,
Half Open Tray Unlock for iXtreme 1.5 > iXtreme 1.61.
If using a 360 to power the drive this method can be tricky to accomplish as the 360 likes to
close the DVD Drive after powering it on.
You need to power on the drive with the Tray Half Open ? To do this using an Xbox 360 as
Power source, eject the DVD drive and then remove the power lead from the Drive.
Close the tray half way and plug the DVD Drive power cable back into the drive, being VERY
cautious to ensure the plug is the right way around.
Using a Connectivity Kit / Xtractor to power the drive.
The easiest way to do this is to simply use the eject button on your connectivity kit to eject the
drive tray, power off the connectivity kit, push the tray half in and power back on the
connectivity kit.

But what im telling you if you read the jungleflasher guide under the benQ section you dont need a probe .. the only time i used a probe v1 or v2 was on lite on's.

every benq i ever did was just powered by my ck3 and hooked up to sata via card
and ran through jungle flasher..

1. intro to get drive in vendor (tray half open trick)
2. read firmware on drive to get the key and save original
3. spoof new firmware with the old firmware
4. erase and write
5. outro

if you only plan on flashing your box to update to current firmware you dont need probes at most you will need and way to get power to drive either from pc or from your xbox. buying the ck3lite would be alot cheaper and would power your drive but you really dont need it at all to flash a benQ

http://www.ck3.co.uk/xecuter-ck3-lite.html

if your planning on doing lite ons as well then yes you will need ack3 pro and v2 probe and the ck3 site has links to guides of what traces need cut and re soldered before and after the flash.
ck3 pro
http://www.ck3.co.uk/xecuter-ck3-pro.html
and the probe v2
http://www.ck3.co.uk/xecuter-ck3-probe-2.html

guide here for probe v2 mra hack (liteon)

You can flash the drive by powering it with the 360 but it's stupid. You need a via card regardless. The drive has to be power cycled and the only way to do that is by unplugging the power to the drive and plugging it back in within 1 second. A lot of people brick drives this way. The ck3 or Maximus pro has a power switch. $20 for the kit
