Flashing DVD-ROM?

I am new to this whole modding thing. How does flashing a DVD drive work? Is it safe? Please explain. Im not a complete noob, just clueless on this mod.

You need to identify what drive you have. Take off the 360 faceplate. Look under the DVD bezel where it says XBOX 360. There should be a small hole and 2 wires.

Yellow = Lite-ON
White = BenQ
Red & Black = Samsung
Plastic piece = Hitachi

The BenQ/Samsung/Hitachi firmware can be dumped from the drive via SATA. The Lite-ON requires the PCB board to be probed with a key-reader to get the DVDkey and drive specific info. Once that information has been obtained, you simply spoof your DVDkey and info over to iXtreme firmware and flash back to the drive.
