I just wanted to make sure I understood this properly. The instructions are saying that you cannot spoof a different model drive that it must be the original benq or liteon. I was a bit confused. Does that mean that a different model drive other than benq and liteon cannot be spoofed or vise versa a benq or liteon that has been spoofed as a different drive will not work with new firmware?

AP25 checks the OSIG so if you have a spoofed drive and you load an AP25 game, it wont boot and you'll be flagged for a ban. You have to have the same drive model and revision to be safe.
edit: hmm, that info was taken from C4E and an op in the jungleflasher IRC channel, but after looking a few people on xbox scene are saying they spoofed liteon/benq and one said he played an AP25 game and his xval came back clean. Personally I'd take the word of c4e and stick to the same drive though

Im still confused on that. You can still spoof it and the ap2.5 games will work but it wont be safe on live?...or you CANNOT spoof and games wont work period???

I take it that you have to have the original liteon or benq drive and those can be spoofed. If you have a different drive like hitachi and its spoofed as a liteon benq then it might work but your taking a chance on live.

I have a Samsung drive, spoofed as Lite-On DG-16D2S Rev. 93450C. I have the original drive but there's something wrong with it. After I had dumped the key and original firmware the drive stopped responding at all. Now it doesn't eject, nothing can see it, etc. I have noticed a wire going to the PCB snapped so I'll try fix that with a solder iron or something.. but that's another issue...
I have heard that AP25 does not affect Samsung drives? Did I hear wrong? What does that mean for me since my Xbox 360 assumes it has the original DG-16D2S drive, and not the Sammy. I don't play backups on live, ever. I am just worried about my Xval if I try to play an AP25 game offline. I haven't even updated to the latest Dash yet until I can see some results from other people in similar situation. Any insight or is to too early to tell?

I have an interest in this. I have a Benq spoofed as a Hit 79. Can I reflash with LT+? I have the OFW and the key.
Thanks

Just curious, where do you guys go to buy a specific drive? For future reference in case I ever need to replace my drive.

I have a spoofed benq drive (to Liteon). I have updated to LT + and playing all AP25 games perfect. I have also gone on xbox live for first time this week, plyed Stealth checked AC:BH for hours. Checked with Xval 2.0 and all came back clean. Hope this helps?

I got mine from Ebay as well. I got one with no firmware for $20, which you have to write the firmware with your dvd key anyway.
