so i am supposed to be getting an xbox 360 that has been flashed to play backups, i dont know what firmware it will be on, but my question is if the firmware is too old for just some reason would i have to reflash it by hooking it up to a computer or can you just update it some other way, thanks, i am new to this, tried looking it up, the system is currently rrod so i am going to fix that first and then go from there but was wanting to plan ahead.

What I'd do after you have fixed your RROD issue is test your drive using a backup. Not on XBL of course, if it works then that would tell me that you have the latest LT firmware, if not, you may have to use the old active iso boot disk. If thats the case, reflash asap. Good luck.

that would bite, because i never intended on trying to flash an xbox 360 with my only computer which has had a bad history of tearing up,(hp slimline)i hacked my wii but it just seems that that was childs play compared to flashing the drive of an xbox 360. uhh thanks though
