Hi guys
I like to know if theres a tutorial or a way to flash my dvddrive for the xbox360 elite, I have tutorials on this but using a pcmci card port which i dont have, is there a usb device i can use to flash the drives instead to get this done, thanks?
if you don't have an on board SATA port, then yeah
most laptops have SATA hard drives (as of the last 5 years or so). Stick your laptop hard drive in an external usb case (with SATA, 2.5" drives fit in both 2.5" and 3.5" ports), boot from there, then use the SATA port on your laptop with an SATA cable to connect to the xbox dvd drive like normal, and follow tutorials from there.
While I've never had trouble with it, I've heard some say that some have had trouble booting certain windows versions externally on certain USB controllers. If that's the case, just install the linux version of your choice on a flash drive and go from there. I haven't checked to see if jungleflasher and whatnot have *nix releases (though there almost certainly do), but if they don't, just use wine.
The only thing stopping any of that from working correctly would be if your SATA controller doesn't support flashing. Some don't, but the vast majority of the recent controllers do.
Save for that, there is no need to waste money on equipment that you don't need. :)
