Hi folks. I´ll let you in on what I´m doing.
I´ve got this xbox with a fubar´d hdd connector, and I´ve had it for forever without being able to use it properly (I don´t own a MU, and they´re always out of stock or discontinued, so I had not been able to save a profile)
A while ago I rewired the Memory-unit connectors to regular USB ports, and tried to get a flash drive connected as a MU, but with no success.
But MS must have heard my cries, because what do we get with the 9199 dash? Support for flash drives as MU´s!
And shortly thereafter Freeboot 0.03, with single nand support! Sweet!
So I flashed the box with 0.032, and have been experimenting with the new dash and it´s usb features, for a while.
But what I cant understand is where to put the "content" folder on my flash drive (primarily to install Freestyle dash, but also quickboot files, and maybe some xbla)
What the 360 does when formatting the device as a Memory Device/Unit is create a folder "Xbox360" in the root of the device, and in there are some random files that I guess are savegames and profiles and stuff, but it doesn´t have the file structure as the HDD´s do.
I haven´t had that much time to look into it, lots of other stuff to do.
So I ask you guys (I always turn to AD when I can´t figure stuff out)
Update: I just formatted a new flash drive, and it seems that the xbox fills the device with 1gb chunks (so that it shows up full in file manager, although it isn´t)
one question, how are memory units always discontinued or out of stock when you can get them all day long at wal-mart, ebay, game stop, EB games, best buy?

wow, very clever.. Despite what you think, not all of us live in "Big city USA" and have a Wal-mart or Best Buy around the corner. Where I live we have an EB-games store, that´s it. And they have discontinued the MU´s, so has every other electronics store around here.
EB-games do sell them used, but they haven´t had any for ages.
I don´t even care about the MU´s anymore (since I´ve got Freeboot 0.032 now with the 9199 dash) and I don´t know why you care to point out where to get them.

and i dont live in a big city either. in fact, i live 30 miles away from the closest store that sells anything but seed for crops or grain for animals.
