Okay, i've had it to here with my xbox but i feel like i'm so close to a solution. I have to be at this point haha.

So i've had a flashed xbox for a while. i've had the persisting problem of certain (not all) games freezing on me after about 20 minutes of play. The games tend to freeze most often at loading screens and loading situations (elevators and such) The burned copies I have of these games are borrowed from a friend who has had 0 issues with them.

Steps i've taken are get a whole new DVD drive, changing power outlets that i plug my supply into, put my xbox and power brick on a very thin crate where I can't see it getting any better ventilation. I FINALLY BROKE GROUND YESTERDAY after I got the new drive installed and it was still freezing. Me and my friends were baffled because I had been told over and over that it was the laser. Now we ruled that out and unplugged the xbox from a power strip it had been plugged into because we heard that over used power strips can cause freezing. It seemed to buy us a few minutes more before it froze again.

I have these mesh crates that are used for DVD, Video game and book shelves and i put BOTH the power brick and my xbox on them and VOILA it worked! I played for 1.5-2 hours with no problems at all. I turned them on today after shuffling them around my room and they started freezing again. It blows me away honestly.

But I have a feeling that my problem was overheating as it's about as old an xbox as you can get. I just don't see why if it worked perfectly yesterday and now it's ventilating as well as possible in the same way I did yesterday why its still freezing for god's sake.

It's due to the poor design of the 1st Gen "xenon" xbox 360s. Look up how to 12v mod your fans (using just solder). It will sound like a jet, but your 360 shouldn't freeze up on you at all. I've done several of them for my friends that keep getting the RROD. It usually resolves the problem altogether.

Yeah, the idea of more money for more internal work sounds extremely unappealing to me. I hooked up my cooling pad from my laptop to it and it was going strong for a good 2-3 hours then it froze up on me again, so obviously it's an overheating issue, any other ideas on how to keep it cooler?
