Ok i have used the idiot proof guide so don't just point me there. I am using Verbs, dual layer + burner and IMG burn using the .DVD file to specify the layer break even tried to confirm the layerbreak by changing the settings. Whats the dang blasted issue???
How are you getting your file? If you are downloading it, that could be your problem. If you are making it yourself with the Kreon firmware, then make sure you use xbox backup creator and not schtrom. When I first tried to make backups, I used the latter and it didn't work. I was pretty dissapointed, but for the heck of it I tried xbc and never looked back. Also, make sure you have upgraded version if that is indeed how you are making the file. Layer break needs to be 191370 and I don't know why you would need to change settings since the .dvd file that is generated already has that info.
If your xbox is reporting "No Disc", then it is probably layer break.
If it is reporting "Play DVD", you don't have updated firmware.
If it is reporting "Open Tray", try ejecting and reinserting, or you don't have updated firmware.
I hope I wouldn't be surprising you by informing you that you need a modded xbox to play backups.
