---Replacing .bik files in games---
How can I do it? Does anyone know? I have searched high and low and wasted about 8 hrs of my life trying to work it out. I currently have kreon drive and flashed 360 dvd drive. I am not sure what xtreme version I have or how to check. All of that is not really important. To my point. So...I have a COD4 iso on my computer that passes all stealth checks through XBC v2.9. I extracted the cod_intro.bik file and checked all of the frequencies, file size, frame rate ect...and converted another video to those settings to replace the one in the ISO. I have RAD video Tools which is an amazing video converter. I notice that when I try to inject the new video that I renamed to cod_intro.bik back into the iso to replace the original, it seems to work fine. I am using wx360 to replace the intro video. There is one term that I have generally read about while forum searching called "padding" I am not sure what this is but it runs when I replace the file. I then check the iso and it no longer passes stealth check. It passes ss sector and PFI but fails at the media check. If its anything like original xbox which I have had mild experience with. I believe I have to patch the default.xex file because for some reason, unknown to me, I can't fool COD4 that easily. I dunno if this is even possible...but if anyone has any solution...I will try it. This isn't something that is greatly important, but I just want to do it for fun if at all possible, which I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be possible. I have never felt so determined in my life!

I like that you are trying this -- it's so much fun to attempt these types of things and finally succeed. I have some great game hacking stories myself, and they are really some of the most rewarding projects I've ever worked on.

However, if you plan on trying this, you may need to give up on your hopes of keeping your 360 unbanned.

I don't know how possible it is because I haven't researched the way the 360 checks the integrity of game data. If you can get the file to the same CRC and name, though, it does seem possible in theory, and I see where you are coming from.

"Padding" refers to adding junk data to a small file in order to make it bigger for whatever reason. In your case, your original COD video file is probably larger than the new one, so it needs to be padded in order to look like the same video with the same size. On that same note, even if you get this working, you probably will not be able to use a replacement file that is bigger than the original file, unfortunately.

Good luck and keep us updated. And thanks for just being a hacker at heart ;)

You are right. I have all of the settings for this video the same. The same size...the same frame rate, resolution. The only thing that is setting me back is the CRC. I ran it through abgx360 and that was the only thing. :( But where there is a will there is a way. Do you think it would still play in my 360 though....say, if I were to use a standard profile to check it out...would that be safer or would I be at just as much risk as using a profile that connects to live? Also, why is there no way to alter the default.xex file? Are those days gone with the original xbox?
