I have a broken Liteon drive and need to get the key from it. It has the "open tray" error. The pins broke so I soldered a sata cable directly to the points and now it is detected by Jungleflasher. I have no money for a CK3 or probe but a spare RROD 360 with a working drive. Can I get the key with a paperclip or screwdriver? This: http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?p=256243#post256243 helps but is not detailed enough of where and what to do exactly. Could someone please provide exact instructions on what to do?

I cannot find a guide to it anywhere. Please, could you provide a link or explanation? What do you mean by a chisel? Like a wood chisel?

It depends on which model drive you have. I do know in particular that the 8xxx model v1 can be done without a probe. I'm not sure about the rest. Look in the directory of which you have jungleflasher, there should be a documents folder with tutorials.

I have the 7xxxx version and it needs a probe. Is there any way that I can not use a probe? I heard that bridging the R707 points with a flathead or paperclip works. Is this true, and exactly how is it done? Thanks.

just build your own probe, you can almost make it for free. you need a transistor etc, you can take them out of defective hardware. or buy one - transistor etc -, costs around 10 - 50 cents. then just wire the stuff directly into the serial port (so you don't need to buy a db9 connector). if you do it the cheap way, it is either free (or a few cents if you need to buy a transistor etc.).
cost price of a complete diy probe is around 1.5-2 euro (including db9 connector and parts). little soldering and you are done. saves you a lot time/hassle instead of fiddling around with alternative solutions.
good luck
