Thought this was interesting if passed:
In the United States, a new law proposal called The Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA) was introduced last week, and there will be a hearing in front of the Judiciary Committee this Thursday.
If passed, this law will allow the government, under the command of the media companies, to censor the internet as they see fit, like China and Iran do, with the difference that the sites they decide to censor will be completely removed from the internet and not just in the US.

Guess the war on terror is over so time for America to focus on the next evil of the world. Well they could only remove sites completely from the net if there server is in the US. No way could they knock pirate bay off the internet. Still would suck.

Why target some little pirate? When we have cyber bullying that goverment has yet to do anything to stop it.

No surprise, Joe Biden has been in the pocket of the RIAA and MPAA since he was a senator. And COICA could have American ISPs forced to comply with the blacklisting or face fines, so TPB and many others could indeed be blocked. Of course this could be bypassed using a VPN but that's obviously not the point.
Awesome "change" liberals.

And that was an intelligent retort? What's changed? Domestic spying, perpetual wars both covert and now not so covert with pakistan, economy still wrecked, spending through the roof. What, you like losing your privacy and freedom on the internet? Because that's what's happening. You're clearly upset because you bought into the propaganda and as you can see from this thread, it's biting you in the ass. I dont blame you for being upset, but I cant be blamed either...I voted Ron Paul. Obama may as well be Bush's 3rd term so my point stands: awesome "change" liberals.

Not that his response wasn't a bad one but sarcastically saying awesome change liberals was obviously going to start something. You did demonstrate brilliantly why political threads are banned here though.

Excellent point, people get emotional (or they should) when their rights are infringed upon and I admit to being guilty of that. I can't help but feeling strongly about issues like this.

In either case, it's just another weak and futile effort to stop something that will easily be able to be circumvented...a huge waste of tax dollars. Why can't we use that money for other things like a gas powered turtle neck sweater.
"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

I know, retroactive reply, but why is being a warriors fan ignorant? What's your NBA team? Are you a front-runner Lakers fan?

I think the point really is that this government isn't built to change for the better only to get more and more in the pockets of special interests. My problem is that you are labeling "liberals". It really has nothing to do with the problem and plays into the government's intentions. By labeling something (Like "liberal" and "conservative" as part of the problem you are ignoring the fact that the government as a whole is disfunctional.
Sorry to vent, it's just too much time reading yahoo storys/message boards at work, people are just filled with too much hatred and not enough common sense.
