Ok fixed my xbox of the RROD fault a while back now im getting grapical errors mainly a green screen over the top of whatever im playing only just started so i thought i would ask if anyone else has had this problem. Took some photos I will upload later.
Basically turn on the machine: everything fine
Play game in the dvd drive wait between 10 and 15 minutes and then a green overlay where shadows should be in Fable 2, slightly differant errors in other games but all drawing green where there should be none.
The games are a mixture of backup and original discs. (After the glitch has happened it remains even in the dashboard so its the xbox glitching not the discs or dvd drive?)
I think it must be a problem with the GPU as it didnt happen when I quickly ran through some arcade games im about to convert a video to wmv to check that out and see if videos cause the same problem.
Reflow is probably the only way I can think of fixing it, if it's the GPU and even then I'm not sure.
I've had several that I've fixed by using w00ly's method (heat gun). None of them have glitched again (yet). It's been over 6 months, so I'd say it worked pretty good. Of course, the best thing to do would be to get a professional BGA reflow, but most of us can't afford to do that. If I were you, I'd try w00ly's heat gun method. $19.99 at Lowes for the heat gun.
Yeah going to give the heat gun method a try and see if it helps, should do from what I have read. Probably going to fit some additional cooling after as well to hopefully prevent the need for repairing to often.

Reballing is $75 shipped back. Only worth it on a jtag console. Heatgun fixes vary. I've tried wooly's fix and it works for a couple of weeks. Other reflows I did with my reflow station and got a few months. Just depends on how good the solder is.
