Im trying to flash my drive using Jungle Flasher and im following the tutorials but im not getting anywhere with this half open tray stuff.

Can someone give me a more detailed guide to doing this half open tray trick....

I poweroff holding the tray open, then I push it half way and turn the xbox back on holding the tray in that position until its done trying to suck it back in. Then the 360 light blinks (is that correct so far?)

then I click OK in Jungle Flasher, it says open tray to full position.....Now this part ive done this 2 diff ways. Ive just physicaly opened the tray back with my hand and then it the OK button in Jungle Flasher but LO83info extraction Failed!

Ive also tried closing it back using the eject button and then ejecting it again and hitting OK but still a bunch of zeros and LO83info extraction Failed!

So how exactly do i do this, please someone with a more detailed explanation (using the xbox360 to power it on and off if that makes a difference)

If theres a way around this please do tell.....kinda getting paraniod physicall holding the tray open and pushing it so often with no luck

Go ahead and click LO83 info. When using the 360 to power the drive, go ahead and eject the tray. Pull the power cable from the DVD drive and push the tray half way in. Plug the DVD power cable back in and click OK. It will prompt you to eject the tray fully. So press the eject button to close, then press the eject button again to get the tray fully ejected.

Thank you so much, unpluging the power from the back of the drive worked like a charm! this is my new problem now if someone could help please

So far ive got as far in Jungle Flasher as being able to save these files:

Dummy.bin, Identify.bin, Inquiry.bin, Key.bin.

Then Jungle Flasher pops up with the Autoloader when I click yes I get this same msg:

"jungle flasher Orig bin file failed MD5 hash check!"

I have then tried (not sure if this is right?) Open Source Firmware and selected "Dummy.bin" And my drive info pops up with my key.

Then I click on "open target Firmware" (again not sure if this what im supposed to do) and look for the "ix16-liteon-repack.bin" once selected Jungle Flasher just closes? done it like 5 times!

Also I have done the entire open tray procedure 5 times and the same thing happens so what am I suppsed to do? do I need to get that Orig bin file elsewhere in order for this to work? is the half open tray thing only need to be done to get the files I already have? please help this Rookie!

Ok I figured out my problem, I had the Lite-On iXtreme 1.6 Repack When I should of had the LiteOn_iXtreme_83850c-THX_v1.6 instead, All seemed to go well for this Rookie and my reg 360 game works so I atleast know its still good to play reg games. Thanks for everyones help who may have helped me in my other posts! :D

Are these files the important ones to keep in 3 diff places?

Dummy.bin, Identify.bin, Inquiry.bin, Key.bin.

Glad you got it resolved. I would definitely keep a back up copy of the 3 files.

Leerage, i've done as you instructed. I've tried every which way to get the half closed trick to work and my drive has failed over 100 times now. I've tried unplugging/replugging real fast, I've tried manually pulling the drive out and in... everything....

Mine is an 83850c-09C thanks so much for any help you can offer

leerage, all is well. thanks so much for offering to help.

iPrep 10.7 and manually pushing/pulling the tray to the correct place worked great - the initial EJECT i actually push the eject button. there is a great iPrep 10.7 video on youtube and if you do it like that guy does it, you're golden (i was using my 360 to power the drive though, not the connectivity kit)
