I hope someone can help. I got a xbox 360 and tried to format the hard drive from the xbox using a sata docking station. The docking station did format the xbox hard drive but now my xbox wont detect the hard drive. I tried using macdrive 8 dont no if i should have used this software or not but made no difference. I no this was a stupid thing to do, as i was trying to load softmod files unto the hard drive as my memory pens didnt work
There is a special file system and set of files you must use to reformat your hard drive. I cannot tell you the program to use in order to do this off of the top of my head, but programs are out there for this purpose. Hopefully somebody more knowledgeable than me can answer this for you. A simple search will reveal the answer as well.
In Microsoft's infinite wisdom, they have deemed you unworthy to choose your own regular hard drive to put into the 360. That's the reason this is not as simple as it seems it should be.
If you want a system that makes sense and allows for open peripherals, go to PS3. Of course there is no modding of the PS3 in the same way that there is for the 360, so...
by reformating the harddrive on your pc,,you just erased the files on the harddrive that only the xbox recognized,,now you have a pc harddrive,,you cant use this on the xbox unless you know how to put those files back on,,and that is tricky,,if you dont know how,,use the search button and you will find out how to do it,,and you will have to borrow your friends 360 harddrive to get the files off it,,
