Hello everyone! This is my first post so please be kind. I've researched and researched but can not find a solution.

I have a BenQ drive that is not recognizable by a Xbox 360 or by my PC via SATA. So I desoldered the little 8-pin IC chip (I believe this is where the firmware and key is stored) off the bad PCB. I got a PCB from another BenQ drive and retrieved the key off of that one just in case I need it and to make sure I don't get the same key after extraction. I removed the IC chip off the working PCB and soldered on the other one from the broken PCB. I tried to retrieve the key using IPrep but I keep getting the message "Wisely Loves LAN" or "Invalid firmware" depending on which version of iPrep I use. I tried using JungleFlasher but the drive keeps freezing my PC when connected. Thinking I may have messed up something, I placed the original good 8-Pin IC back on and I can retrieve the key just fine.

My question, is my 8-Pin IC bad? Is there a way for me to retrieve the key at all. JTAG is not possible because the dashboard has been updated.

Thank you in advance for any advice.
