I think the OP wants sound to a seperate sound system. I belive it is possible but I think (And im not sure) that you have to slightly notch the AV plug so the HDMI can fit in too.
most tv's today have av out ports so you can hook up the hdmi to the tv off of the xbox then just connect the audio cables from your tv to your sound system.
You can get an adaptor kit which has a thinner plug to allow hdmi cable to fit underneath,the adaptor plug itself can have the white & red rca sound output plugs as well as an optical out or just the rcA
Even easier, pop off the gray plastic housing from the cable. There's still a metal one underneath, so the cable is still protected, and taking off the housing lets the hdmi plug in at the same time, plus it's free.
Did this because I wanted to use hdmi for picture but wanted to use the digital (optical) out on the av cable to run to my receiver.
