I have read through various sites that talk about this but they don't discuss how to fix this or what does the return code means. This message is long and please don't reply to my topic if you don't read through this entire text. Not trying to be mean, but people are not being smart on http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=692863 and are completely ignoring what i'm asking of. So with that being said, here is what I did to get it to where it is now.

To start it off, the drive I was flashing was a ms28 stock firmware. Using my Intel(R) 82801GB/GR/GH (ICH7 Family) Serial ATA Storage Controller - 27C0.

Basically was using all types of methods for flashing and none of them worked. Would either get 0x51 status and I would turn off the 360 and then turn it back on after 10 seconds and nothing would happen or it wouldn't do anything.

In the end, I used xbins to download the latest Jungleflasher and decided to use a method that some said worked. So I plugged in the sata cable from my onboard motherboard to the 360 drive and I would startup both the 360 and pc at the same time. I put a 0800 disc inside the 360's drive and left it in there the entire process. After I got into windows I started JungleFlasher v0.1.66 Beta (49) and went to the MTK Flash 32 tab and went to the port my drive was in. Which was 0x0170. I hit the button Intro/ Device ID and would begin my process of turning off the 360 and turning it back on until it was at status 0x51 instead of 0xD1. After I got it there I, I hit esc on the keyboard to get out of Intro/ Device Id, and hit Outro/ ATA Reset, After that I hit Sammy Unlock and It went through all the banks with a few x's in the ..... section and got a successful read. After that I saved the orig to my desktop and then tried to write the new firmware onto the drive then my computer froze and got a BSOD and said shit, I hope I got my orig still there on my desktop. I restarted my computer and left my xbox360 on, and noticed that it was still in vendor mode and the green lite was blinking. I tried to get into windows and after a series of problems I decided not to try and turn on my computer with the drive in and turned the 360 off and took the sata cable out of the drive and turned on my computer and got to windows. After that I turned on the 360 and plugged the sata cable back into the drive and noticed that my drive is still in vendor mode even though I turned it off. I try and eject the 0800 disc out of the drive and it wont open. So I tried to see if there is anything I could do, So i went into jungle flasher again and then selected the port the drive was in, and used the same method I did to get to the sammy unlock until, this time it started to stay at 0x80, it wouldn't budge whenever I did the Intro/ Device ID, I turned off the 360, turned it back on, then I had to use a pin to physically open the drive and take the disc out and try it again. Still stays at 0x80. I then turned off my computer, turned off my xbox, unplugged the drive from the motherboard thinking if it is the drive, then the vendor mode should go off if I unplug it from the 360 as well. While doing that It still gave me the green vendor mode blinking lite. It is stuck at 0x80 and does not flinch for any other number and the xbox wont get out of venodr/blinking light mode.

I'm wondering how to fix this xbox or do I have to buy another one? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I know this is a long story, But it would be useless to explain it in smaller terms as I don't think you would understand it that way.

I have flashed my ms25 and a hitachi drive with this same motherboard. I have another computer with Nforce4 on it but figured if I can't get it out of vendor/broken mode, then there is no point in trying in there.

Thanks for taking the time in reading and I hope you can help me! Thanks you.

Hi there, I'm not 100% on this but it sounds to me like your drive isn't actually in vendor mode. You may of just erased the firmware and or the firmware is corrupt. Would recommend you try it on your nForce board instead, may have more luck. Also try alt. SATA ports, I've had this prob in the past.

If you did actually get your OFW, then you could always spoof another drive as a last resort.

Sorry I cant be more help.

without fully reading your post, if the center light is flashing constantly, its due to not having FW on your drive. hopefully you were able to successfully dump a legit key and save it *otherwise, you are screwed*. you can try putting it in vendor mode again, or just download dosflash v1.8 and boot to it via a usb stick and finish the flashing that way.

Yes I was able to get the original key and thanks so much for the information, I'm going to try a different motherboard and See if this will fix it. And I do believe it doesn't have any firmware on the drive for the fact that it crashed on the writing process and not the erasing process.

if you cant fine/dont have a compatible mother board, then just spend the 15 bucks on the PCI card.

Okay Basically, I plugged the xbox 360 into the T.v and it showed E65. Which looking through google, means the drive either 1) has no firmware, 2) There is no drive, 3) The tray is stuck. Which basically means that mine has no firmware, cause i'm sure I just erased the firmware and was unable to do a successful flash, So i'm going to buy the http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?Item=N82E16816132009 in attempt to reflash my drive and hopes that it would work. Do you guys think that this would probably fix the 0x80 and would be able to flash with this card?

Everything worked fine in the end. What happened is I got the card, Tried to reflash using the usb device to boot off of, and kept getting stack overflow error. So instead I used jungle flasher in the end, After installing my drivers, going to the windows folder, system 32, and deleting the viamdrivers file, So that it would be yellow just like on page 105 in the jungle flasher tutorial, I then plugged my xbox 360 sata port to the pci card I bought on the farthest one to the right *One closest to the front of the computer*, I then Loaded jungle flasher, made it so that it only showed VIA drivers only. And Selected the first port, which was 0x1150 for me. I then Did Intro / Device ID, showed the console at 0x80. I then hit esc. Made sure my xbox 360 was off, I unplugged the drive's power cord directly from the drive, and did intro / Device Id, And got 0xF7 or something like that, Then I counted 10 seconds, put the power cord back into the drive and then turned on my 360 and it read the 360's drive perfectly and was able to reflash without a problem. Thanks so much people for all the help you've given me, took a long time and in the end I ended up buying the card needed for flashing the ms28. So Whole Story, Buy the damn card if you don't have the chipset. xD

Hi helpmy360, i have the same problem, the green light blinks like when the drive is in vendor mode...my console doesn't recognize the drive and it doesn't open or close, it seems it doesn't have power supply. Can you explain better: at first do you plug the sata of your console or the one of the drive (is it your console in sata connection with the pc or the drive?); second is the cosole switched on the first time you send the vendor?then when you unplug the power of the drive and wait for 10 seconds is the sata connected still to the console or to the drive?

If you could aswer my quesntion i would really thank you, 'cose i'm in a stuff and i can't get out...

Thanks in advance

Basically, that green light means your drive has no firmware on it, Hopefully you got the orig.bin out of it. If so Great, if not, not too good at all. If you do, then proceed in the steps I took. Basically when using jungle flasher when you power down the drive, do it by physically pulling out the power cord from the xbox360 and leave your xbox360 on to power it. Count 1-10 seconds and plug it back in during the intro/device id. It should bring it into vendor mode and load your firmware you want it to be onto it. Hope all goes well.

PS: as far as the sata cable goes, leave it connected at all times, don't unplug it for any reason. Just turn off / on your drive and hopefully it works. (If you really want more help and you are getting the same thing I did, please read the responses the people gave me as well as my end result, and hopefully you can solve yours.)
