I have the Intel 82801GB/GR/GH (ICH7, identical to ICH6) and I'm looking to flash a lite-on drive. I keep getting an error when trying to obtain the key saying that "attempted to read or write protected memory". I tried it in the 0 port and the 1 port. I can't figure it out. I don't want to resort to buying the usb pro and waiting for it to ship. It happens when I click on the phat button to obtain the key. Could it have to do with i/o not found error? i am on x86 windows 7.

There has been several people with this error in different forums. But no definitive answers. They do say its a .net error others say its a hardware conflict. One suggestion is creating another windows user profile with admin privileges. Also try the link below to disable de-bugging.

are you using the probe to unlock it?

Yes I'm using the probe but I can't even get to the point where I use the probe I get the error as soon as I click the phat key button. I think the problem has to do with something else though because when I'm in that second tab in jungle flasher (win32 or whatever it's called I forget I'm not home at this moment) I see nothing in my io ports and controllers and I can't select anything. Also I get that error in the beginning when it says no io ports found and the portio64 error. I'm on 32 bit so does that even apply to me?

EDIT: the error is no io ports found during enumeration. When I start up jungle flasher.

Also I don't have to install any drivers or anything using this method correct? The only software I've installed is the lt3.0 firmware and jungle flasher. Also for the portio error if you are going to ask I do have both of them in the root with jungle flasher exe. (Portio 64 and 32)

1. Ensure ACHI and RAID are disabled in BIOS. Native IDE is ok.
2. Use Primary Master SATA (usually sata1 or 0 (lowest#) port). Each port is labeled on the mobo. If your system HDD is in the lowest one, move it.
3. Ensure "Include non-IDE" is ticked
Do you have your libusb0.dll in the jungleflasher folder?

Yeah I got the lib USB part but the first two I can't figure out. I have a dell if that helps. I can't find that option in my bios.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!

It's my fault. I'm running 64bit windows and I didn't even know. I had to disable driver signature before anything.

Yeah, all you guys here at afterdawn really helped a lot I appreciate it! Now maybe I can share some of my knowledge that I learned from this with someone else new here that needs assistance. There is one thing I'm actually a little confused about that I would like to ask. When I was flashing in the dvdkey32 tab when I was obtaining the key for my drive I had stuff on the i/o side but nothing on the com side. Everything still worked for some reason but why is that? I even tried to click the drop down but still nothing. Any idea why and why it still worked ? Also should I be worried? haha.
