Can someone help me. I've fallen for the "anyone can replace an X box DVD drive" ploy and now I'm way stuck. First the details: I'm trying to replace xbox 360 DVD drive
model DG16d2s, FW 74850c.

Bought a BenQ VAD6038 FW63940C. quickly found out the pcbs are different and I can't swap them. Moved to learning about flashing. Downloaded Jungle flasher v1.7 Bought a extra SATA cable to connect to PC. Installed J flasher, went to hook up SATA cable and found cable doesn't fit the Xbox DVD. I'm going in circles, just want to fix my kids XBox. Instructions on forum seem old looking for current instructions or help with BenQ.

Questions:
1-How to I id the correct SATA cable for xbox DVD?
2-How do I check my PC chipset to see if it's compatable with the XBox?
------Do I have to buy one of those X360 USB things?
------I'm using win7 and in device Mgr. under IDE ATA Controllers shows standard dual Channel PCI IDE controllers. But I know the HD used a red L SATA connection.
3-PC & X box are close together. do I really need the CK3 pro power device?

Good news first: All sata interfaces are the same. Are you 100% sure you are putting the right cable into the correct... hole?

Bad news now: You cant replace a Phillips - Liteon with a Phillips BenQ drive without gettign the ban hammer from MS. Also, the 74850c requires additional hardware to extract the key. Google "PMT probe" and you will find instrctions on how to do that. VERY simple if you have even a small understanding of circuits.

So, in summary you must do the following:

1. Make sure you are using the proper SATA cables (pictures on here would help you tons)
2. Buy a new drive that MATCHES your old one
3. build an extractor PMT probe.
4. Extract the key from your old drive.
5. Put the key from your old drive on your new one along with some LT+ fw.
