I have an Unbanned 360 and I have a question about the hd

I was wondering if i play the a prerelease game (Modern Warfare 2) Offline,Without my hard drive, and not connected to live will ban me from live?

I want to play mw2 today, but im scared ill be banned from live once i go onto live,i just want it for the story for now.

The reason i want to play it without a hd is because i heard it doesent save anything or remember anything about what you played,or it stores it with cache on the motherboard, which i heard could be erased with a option?

If you play a bad rip on your 360 it doesn't matter if it is online or offline. If you play a bad rip offline, your 360 will log it and report it back to MS servers as soon as you log back on. Having a hard drive or not doesn't matter.

And you will never know if it is a bad rip or not before the retail release comes out and the rips can be verified via ABGX.

That is why playing pre-release games is a silly thing to do.

By the way, good lookin' out for Sac-town! I'm a 916 guy myself.

Correct ^

Well.. not COMPLETELY safe. There is no way to be completely safe with backups.

I'm a 619 guy myself :P

What andmill says is true, but a game verified as a good rip by ABGX is as safe of a backup as we can have... and it is pretty darn safe.

Even if you get lucky and the pre-release rip you get is completely legit (which you can't know until it is released retail), MS has just barely started banning the gamertags (but not consoles, as in traditional bans), of people who play pre-release games online.

Still, it's never smart to play a pre-release game online OR offline. People do it, but people drive 150 MPH down Arden as well, without ever getting caught. Like the Sac reference? ;D

You are definitely ahead of the game, just by being bright enough to ask the question in the first place. If you just make sure you run your games through ABGX before you play them, and that they are truly verified (check http://www.abgx360.net/verified.php for a list), you are most likely not going to get banned, unless MS wises up in some way.

The people who get banned are the people who assume, "Well, I disconnected the internet before I played that questionable game, so I will be okay."

Have fun with that modded 360.
