hi, i have a phat style 360, with a benq drive. i have a desktop pc with a sata cable built in, also i have a burnable cd-rom in it. i also have a laptop that i can use. but im just wondering how i actually do the soft mod and roughly how much money will i have to spend to be able to mod it. i wanna be able to copy my game discs and play the copys so that way my main disks dont get messed up. then also possibly download games? i dont know if that is possible with the 360, but i could do it with my ps2 a couple years ago. so im guessing it is possible. any help would be greatly appreciated

You have to look into getting a ck3i or a ck3 mini. Also you have to make sure your sata on your motherboard is compatible with the xbox disc drive. You can get the the xbox usb pro or they now sell an all in one kit called xbox usb pro v2 which is the ck3 and the usb pro all in one. You should start by researching these things and tutorials. Then to burn games you are going to need a burner that is compatible with max burner which is a program that allows you to overburn on dual layer discs. This is required for all 360 discs. This all could run you from around $80-$100+. Theres a new Sony burner out there called the optiarc 5280s-cb-plus which eliminates the need for max burner which makes it a little easier. It all depends on the route you want to go.
