Hi folks, first post here. Hope it's in the right section.
I'm having a few drive issues with a 360.
I got a 360 (Xenon) off eBay with a flashed drive (Hitachi 0078FK) and, annoyingly, the console overheated after 15 minutes and is now dead (long story of trying to fix it).
I have since got my hands on a replacement motherboard (Elite Falcon 2008 w/HDMI).
Put the Hitachi drive in it and the console recognises it and plays DVD's but it wont play games. Insert an original game and it says "insert this disc into a 360", insert a backup and it just tries to play it as a DVD.
Muchos messing around followed and I have managed to restore the drive and flash it again (using JF). No joy, still not working.
So now I'm pretty stuck. I found out that the original drive on the board was a LiteOn 16d2s so I have tried to spoof the drive as that (3 options in JF manual spoof mode, top one wanted a barcode which I dont have, second one didnt work, didn't try the third), still won't work.
Any ideas or is the whole lot fit only for the bin?
Sorry for the long post, thought it best to give as much info as possible.
do you have the drive key for the motherboard? if so just flash the drive as a hitachi and put the key from the liteon on the drive, if you do not have the drive key for the motherboard, then you are worse off than you would have been with the RROD, at least you can fix the RROD but you cannot invent the drive key.
Oh well, in the bin with it then. Emailed the person who gave me the board to see if he has the drive key but there's been no word so I doubt he has it.
Tried to reflow the overheated one and I just get a black screen, no sound and a single red light.
