Hitachi drive crashes pc

Hello All,
im trying to flash my first hitachi drive which is a 79 fl.
when i power the drive up in windows it crashes my pc.
any ideas on why and a good tut please.
jungleflasher tut is good but wont help with pc freezing

i have tried 2 other machines,moving the via card to a different slot.
im using a via 6421a and have tried the latest drivers.
havent done any of these before and hating them.
im running xp jungleflasher 1.77 although i have also tried jf174.
it just wont pick up.
i tried to flash in dos which detected the drive but wont go into mode B.
any more ideas?

I have a 78fk and I was about to pull my hair out because it was doing the same as yours. I was using my on-board SATA connection (I have a compatible chipset) and nothing but freezes. I ended up using DOSflash and it worked the first time. I used this tutorial http://www.360mods.net/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=11374 (please remove if this violates the rules)
