Hitachi DVD Drive Spindle Motor

Hey!

I have a 360 who's DVD Drive was not reading disks. After adjusting the laser, the spindle motor stopped spinning. Is it possible that I blew a fuse on the PCB somewhere? I've been checking a few components and they have continuity between them and the DVD Drive leads.

Also, if I've permanently fouled the board, is it possible to get its key without unlocking the drive so I can replace the drive with another?

your laser is way out of calibration, use a meter and make sure you are getting the correct settings on the pots. if you do infact have them set right change the laser.

Ill double check the laser, again. In the meantime, could you explain how laser calibration is related to the spindle motor?

if the laser does not see a disc, it will not spin. the chances that the motor itself was bad would be very slim, stick to the obvious first.
