I received my replacement xbox from MS (sent it in for RROD repair, foruntately still under the 3-year warranty), but am thinking they sent me just an old refurbished unit, not a newer refurb unit with the newer chipset. The Serial number ends with 62306, indicating it was made in 2006, but the serviced date is 08/2009 ... the power supply requirements on it are the same as the original pro model I had and i'm using the same power supply I have always had - I believe it is the 203 watt model. As per the date on the serial number and the power supply requirements on it I'd assume I received an older one with a chipset that is still susceptible to the RROD, but the service date is newer, making me think maybe its a hybrid made to work with the power supply I have but possibly a newer chipset? I'm not taking it apart - i don't want to ruin what little warranty may be left, but what do you all think? Has anyone had this before? The updated model of my xbox on the support page for xbox says it is the "Xbox 360 Exchange Pro" ... ??? Anyone?

Well, they fullfilled their part by fixing it or sending you a different unit. A jasper would have 256 or 512 onboard memory. Look at the power plugs to tell the differences:

Thanks modking - I forgot to look at the more detailed pictures of the various power connectors - I know its not the jaspen as the top piece is flat, I'll have to check when I get home to see if it is the opus/falcon ... but based on the power ratings it has on the xbox I'm pretty sure its the Xenon/Zephyr - hopefully the newer of those...
Yes infam0us, it was serviced in August 2009, but the serial number, if the numbers have any fact to them, says its from 2006 - I believe the 6 is the year in the last 5 numbers of an xbox serial, right? I had searched for the way to read the serial number and it has the year day and month on it or something like that, so 62306 is potentially read as 06/23/2006 ... how could that be a 2009 model when the opus/falcon were made after 2006?
Anyways, thank you again Modking - I'll reply back when I find out which they sent me .. and yes, they did fulfill their request - the one I sent back had the rrod a couple years ago, so i'm more than happy it was replaced!

You sure about that? From the images showing the power connector, I have a xenon/zephyr model ... its really strange, I wonder if it has a newer chipset just running on the older power supply and older power requirements as the service date is 08.2009 ... but the serial number would indicate it is from 2006 and the power requirements indicate one of the early models.
Infam0us, how old was the original one you sent in?

Most likely the date changed because it has been sent in for repair before. The original date was probably 2006. Does it say service date is 2009 or MFG date? If it says service date, there's your answer.

Service date ... which is what I suspected. I had googled Service date but couldn't find much info ... you answered my question, thank you! Kind of a bummer that M$ would send me a refurb that is more susceptible to the RROD than the newer models ... oh well, hopefully this one lasts a couple years like my last one did!
