How do I downgrade to a child account?

I want to setup my son's live account as a "child" account to enable family controls, Right now it's not, and apparently theres no way to go back from an adult account to a child account. There is however a way to "promote" a child to an adult.

How do I start over while keeping his gamer tag and make it a child account?

You don't. You have to make him a new child account.

Right now we have a 3 month subscription...do I have to wait until that expires?

Maybe call up Microsoft at 1-800-4MY-XBOX. Who knows, they might be able to do it for you.
