It's not a weird question at all. First and foremost, you need to do a lot of researching. The xbox 360 and it's drive are paired, married, etc.. They have a matching key which consists of 32 alphanumerical characters. In other words, if you take the drive out of the RROD console and put it in the 360 that is having DVD drive problems, it won't work. The other 360 tries to read the key from the new dvd rom that you've just replaced, and sees that the numbers do not match. It will play movies, but not games. There is a way to change the number. It's called spoofing, but if the drives are of different manufactures, (one is hitachi and the other is benq), spoofing no longer works with the newer dashboard. If they are of the same make, (both are benq drives), then it would work. In order to do this, there is software that you need. Google jungleflasher.pdf and things might start to become a little more clear for you. Keep researching and learn like most of us on here have. It's okay to ask questions, but please make sure that they haven't already been answered by using the search feature.
