I'm having same problem as kenny25, my 360 wont play half of my backups anymore, but still plays originals. Surely its not the laser as it wouldnt still read originals perfectly would it?

It is struggling to read through the dye of the backups. That is why it doesn't have a problem with originals. You can google "XBOX 360 Pot calibration" to find the tutorial.
