thanks for the tut, that was actually the tutorial that I followed to flash the system in the first place... however I didn't want to have to hook it all back up again, re-flash xell then boot it just to grab the key... is there another method I could use using the .bin files I already have?
I also remembered that I couldn't use degraded for some reason to compare my dumps, I had to use another program, which was way more simple.. but I can't remember what it is right now...?

Are you saying that you have your system successfully running the jtag hack? Or did you just read the nand a couple of times then remove the wires from the mother board? I'm not sure I understand your question.

yes, it is sucessfully running the jtag hack (well partially). I dumped the nand, and flashed xbr-8955 back on... so I'm at the 8955 dash... I've been asking around as to how to set up my hard drive now so I can get some xbla and save .iso's directly to the hard drive, and some of the guys said I need to run the freeboot toolbox... so as I opened that, its asking me for my cpu key in order to build an image..
So at the moment, all I've done is dump, and reflash... system is running fine with 8955. what next to complete the hack?

I'm not sure if xell is included with the 8955 dash, but try hitting the eject button to turn on your 360. If you get a bunch of text coming up, make sure to have a camera ready to catch the fusesets. I believe you have to use line 3 & 5, or 4 & 6 and that is your CPU key.

Try start your Xbox up with the eject button, if xell doesn't work you will need to flash Xellous on to your NAND with a program called Flash360. You don't need to resolder or anything like that.

Ok so you now have XBR 3 installed and running, boot up your 360 by holding the eject button. The 360 will boot into Xell (blue screen), You need to grab lines 3 and 5 or 4 and 6, (it doesnt matter) of the fuses that briefly flash up on the screen, those two parts make up your CPU key.

Thanks a ton guys... never thought to boot the system using the eject... Anyways, got my fusesets, put the 2 lines together to get my cpu key. Entered that key into the toolbox, chose my nand image, and the tool box created a new file for me: freeboot.bin
I'm assuming I have to flash this back to my nand now? I've still got my lpt wires soldered to the board, but is there an easier way to do this or is this not the right step yet?
Thanks again!

ok, so I renamed the file, and downloaded flash360 v1
How do I flash it to the nand via USB? I know I've gotta put it into the root of the USB, boot the 360 with the USB in (front/back?? does it matter?). USB is formatted to FAT32 with nothing else on it. Also, do I load both files to the root of the usb?
I've got 2 files now, the updflash.bin, and flash360.xex (and a sub folder)
I was reading of of Mike's older posts that then says go to your games folder and start XEXloader
http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-152/_flash360_v1_0-829705/
but I don't have this in my games folder. When I open my games folder it says I have no games, and no storage device. I can't see my USB device (because I'm still on the 8955 dash).
I'm following your instructions to the letter... so pls keep it up! thanks so far! By the way, I am not using a hard drive YET... I'm doing all of this to prepare a hard drive for use.. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.. thanks.

Update:
Ok, did my homework, got xex menu to work, ran the updflash.bin from the usb stick.. tried to write the new kv.bin and config.bin from the usb, and it said that it was a mismatch, so I used the 2 bin files that were already on the nand, and it wrote just fine.
So now I'm booting up to the latest 12611 dash. But I can't seem to get xex menu to stay under my games, everytime I copy the file, and go back to the dash, its not there

Happy New Year Everyone!!
Hey JP when you say make them, how exactly do I do that? I am using a stock 250GB microsoft hard drive, and don't have that 000000000000000000 folder... do I need to rip it apart and connect it to the pc, or can I make them while its connected to the 360?
Thanks!
P.S - any chance you'd be willing to let me drop it off to you, and you set it all up for me?? and give me a quick tut!! Let me know!

you can make it while its hooked up. just go into fsd or xex menu and create the directory. easiest way is to make a cd-r with the .iso form of xexmenu, boot off of that and copy it onto the HD.

Thanks wabashman, did exactly what you said, and it worked great! I was able to get some xbla games up and running without any problems!
Now I'm just trying to figure how to boot directly into FSD 2.0.. I'm able to access it via a usb right now. I also need to figure out how to copy games from disk direct to hard drive and play them w/o the disk. I copied 1 game using FSD but I don't know where to put it as it has multiple folders and stuff... I've tried moving it around to different directories on the hdd, but it doesn't show up in my games menu?
