i played it
it's a horrible "game"
i put it in quotations because for the first 4 hours you're basically watching a movie, that you CAN'T control, and when you can control anything you just basically keep pressing "x" for victory
you can't explore anywhere, you can't talk to any npcs, you can't even level up
i read in reviews that the game starts getting more "open" after the first THIRTY HOURS, and it's not until then that you can start "leveling up."
horrible. horrible game. worst out of the series. even worse than ff x-2, which i was interested in enough to at least complete it.

Great find, great price but i've never been able to get into these games, guess it's cos i have to much of a life to spend 60 hrs+ on one game lol, not even gonna waste 3 verbs on this game as the trailers look crap, also read alot of bad reviews from gamers but i guess it's each to his own ;)

Have to agree I'm disappointed. Can't say it's horrible, more than annoying. Movie scene after movie scene. Plus, the battles are long and hard as hell for just local villians.

did you not expect this from a final fantasy game? i haven't played one in years but i always remember them having lengthy cut scenes.
kinda like mgs4 on the ps3. every cut scene through out the game was 30-60 minutes long. but since i anticipated it... it wasn't so bad.
definitely something i don't like doing very often.

Thirty hours? I think not, I am done with disc one (7 hours) and during disc one I was leveling up. The first two hours is a tutorial basically then you can start doing better combo's and learning new attacks.
And I'm a guy who thought all final fantasy games were just pointless. The game has a good story line which makes it ok to have lots of cut scenes.

I want this game and it is the only reason I am breaking down and getting a 360. I have a $4,000 m17x alienware laptop and do most of my gaming on the pc. I must play FF13. I even liked 12 and no one liked that one. My favs are final fantasy and devil may cry. Also that is the reason I bought a ps2 years ago.

It was on nintendo, and not worth play now IMO. Unless you become a die hard fan it doesn't matter too much. But it's good because the story is fresh from all the games. Except maybe x and x-2. Not sure if those two line up.

I think he meant to say that after 25-30hours, in chapter 11 of 13, you can finally explore on your own. Until that point, the game is on rails and you just follow the tracks.
I would recommend Lost Odyssey long before you play FF13. JRPG's aren't as stale as fighters but they sure aren't doing anything new. Good reason why WRPG's are so more popular and fun.
