Will Memorex work or only Verbatim? If Memorex will work, at what speed do I need to burn it at? I heard like with Verbatim it has to be 2.4, but that Memorex it needs to be set at 8. Is that right? I have burned at 2.4 with Memorex, but to no avail. Please help. And I don't know if this is in the right section, if not, sorry. As you can tell I am a noob!

Okay, So....I am using Memosux! I have tried a few times now to burn this with no avail! Says its there but it will not play! I put it in and it says "Open Tray" on my console. Thats it! Nothing! What's going wrong, besides the fact that its not a Verbatim?

And thought I would also add that I have tried at both 2.4 and 8x speeds.

Thread teleported out of the old type xbox forums.

I don't ever do dual layer writing (or xbox 360 backups/burning for that mnatter) so unless i spot something meaningful in your imgburn log i will leave the imgburn issue itself to the xbox 360 regular posters

Yeah Memorex work, just like all the other cheap media, but just like all the other cheap media, Memorex is not consistent at all.

My story: When I burned my first 360 game about 3 years ago (Gears of War), it was on a Memorex. Even though everyone said use Verbatim, I used Memorex, because I get them for free, and had a couple hundred of them. I burned it, and it worked. I wondered what the hell they said use Verbatims for when my Memorex worked fine. But out of the first 5 games burned, only 2 worked. I burned 2 copies of Gears of War for system linking. Only one of them worked, even though they were from the same ISO. Only 1 of 3 copies of Halo 3 worked, even though they were from the same ISO also. So I tried a handful of other games. Some worked, some didn't. That's when I learned about disc consistency being a major factor (the discs are not always the same). I got some "expensive" Taiyo-Yudens and Verbatims. They worked flawlessly every single time (and from those same ISOs as before). The copies of Gears and Halo 3 on the Memorex discs stopped working after about 5 months even though I never really played them because I was using the Verbatim copies, which still work today.

My advice, is to use a "good" disc (Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden) follow every step as instructed (including checking with abgx360), perfect your procedure, then when you "have it down to a science", try the cheap discs if you still want to use them. But keep in mind, Verb are only a dollar a disc.

Unless I'm missing something in you ImgBurn log, it seems fine which is why I'm suggesting you try better media.

Do you use ImgBurn as well? And what is this abgx360? All I have is ImgBurn. I thought all I had to do was load the game file and that imgburn does the rest? I did change the layer break and try it at different speeds but still nothing.

Since you do not know what ABGX is I have to ask, is your xbox flashed? If so, what firmware do you have and what game is it that you are trying to play. There could be a wave issue. If not then you can burn that game a million times and it will never play. ---Chikn

Ok so now I am officailly pissed lol. I bought some Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x and tried to use them and again, to no avail! Somebody please tell me what the hell I am doing wrong? Could it be a bad file or what? It wouldn't burn if the file were no good, would it? Please help me as I am about ready to throw this console in the highway!

You could update the firmware of your burner. The firmware that's running on it now is old.

Do the burns verify? You cut the ImgBurn log short.

Which firmware is your 360 DVD drive flashed with?

Have you tried the burned discs on someone else's flashed 360?

If you don't provide the info we ask for it will be difficult to sort out your problem. There may be other issues to troubleshoot besides the brand of your discs. ---Chikn

Burns do verify. No idea what firmware the 360 has on it as I bought it used. It does play the burned games tho, cause it came with 20 of them and they play. I have ABGX360 now and this is what I get when checking the ISO http://paste2.org/p/903157 So, could it be that the file(game) isn't a good file?

the firmware on your DVD drive is more than likely just outdated. You need one of the newer firmwares in order to play the newer games.

Likely a bad file with that ABGX log. You can try to UnRAR the files again then re-run ABGX. ---Chikn

Dude, Are you so eager to play this game that you overlook the obvious? Look at your own ABGX log:

Checking for updates to abgx360.dat...
Server file abgx360.dat no newer than local file - not retrieving
ERROR: C:\Users\lita crumby\Documents\Vuze Downloads\Red Dead Redemption [RF] [X

Umm...Have you read any of my posts above, such as:

"...what firmware do you have and what game is it that you are trying to play. There could be a wave issue. If not then you can burn that game a million times and it will never play."

OR

"Likely a bad file with that ABGX log. You can try to UnRAR the files again then re-run ABGX. ---Chikn".

You did not provide any responses. Your loss.
