I did a search on the forums and didn't have anything come up i was wondering since these mod chips house there own NAND would it be possible to install one of them on my console that has the 8955 kernel then boot with a different kernel and once on that reflash a lower level kernel to the 360's onboard NAND? or at least boot with a previous version kernel from the chip and homebrew off that? ive also read that removing the R6T3 resistor removes the efuse power source and supposedly will allow a previous version kernel to run. whats your thoughts?

Removing the resistor won't matter as now that you're on 8955 all the efuses are already blown. That's why the Cygnos won't be any good for you either. With the efuses blown the jtag hack is null and void.

Bhetrick, I'm not questioning for a second that you might be wrong, I just wondering if you could please elaborate:

"With the efuses blown the jtag hack is null and void."

Yet according to Wiki (yeah I know they are not always right ;) it states:

"'Blowing' an eFUSE. This process does not physically destroy the eFUSE, so it is reversible and repeatable, using JTAG Programming."

I'm sooooo confused lol.

If you could spare a minute to enlighten me, it'd be very much appreciated :)

It's always good to ask. Here's a good thread about your same question.

Your question just about answers itself. The efuses are blown, disabling the jtag. But they can be reversed via jtag programming. But how can you reverse it via jtag programming if the jtag port is already disabled.
