First off all, keep in mind that I have a Hitachi drive. So, I was able to play and install backups before wave 3 came up. After it showed its face, I was able to patch the images with the ppf or something patcher to play them. I was able to install these patched games onto the harddrive too. However, a game in particular, refused to work. That was Bionic Commando. I knew then that I had to update my firmware to the new one so I had my friend update my xbox to 1.5 since I don't have the necessary stuff. I was able to play some new games without doing anything else to them with this update until another new game refused to be installed. At %47 it said that the disc was dirty, however, I completed it without installation. For the later games, I found a workaround, abgx360 had an option to adjust something to 359 degrees which allowed those new gaes to be installed. Yet again a newer game refused this method and game me an error at %47. All the other games that came after that gave the same error too but at least I was able to play them to the end. Now this game, Wolfenstein, I can't install it, fails at %47 every single time and I can't play after the first level, it freezes after the video. And yes my lens is fine, it plays all the old games perfectly. Can anyone please help me on what to do? I don't want to get a new box or a drive. And I sadly can't update to 1.6.

Could be your Xbox DVD drive's laser or the media you are using. High-quality media like Verbatim is easier to read.

I hope you aren't attached to Xbox Live, though, because it sounds like the next time a ban wave comes along you will be on the list.

The Drive is fine I am sure of it, if I were to pop in RE5, not ony that it would work, but I can install it as well.
I use Verbatims, yeah they are great.
The strangest things always happen to me. I have asked arund and no one knows a solution to this. I haven't even found anyone online with a problem like this. And then, again, my xbox is special. it gave the rrod at least 20 times and its still alive for some unknown reason. Turning it off and on helped.
I guess the only option is to get a new xbox with a drive other than teh hitachi. But if you know any workarounds, please let me know because you can't get an xbox under 1000 dollars from where I live. So, I don't want to buy one.

I would certainly attempt a minor POT calibration before just giving up. As long as the case is open, you need to upgrade the firmware.

Then if you are still having the problem, it will be easier to diagnose.

or media issue. I had a customer with a issue on Prototype which is known for having issues. Had to adjust laser and burn to a verb for it to work. That game is awesome but apparently wasn't set to disc right. I even heard the retail copies have issues.

YES I have figured out what exactly was wrong with the situation. I think everyone should take a look at this because people may run into this problem sooner or later. The problem was not with the xbox, it was with the BURNER itself. I put the disc back in to the drive to take the image from it, however, at %50 percent it stopped and said something like "no seek complete". Weird huh? Something must be wrong with the layer breaking capabilities of my burner. Tried updating the firmware but it did not do anything. Luckily I had a lap top, I downloaded the game and used the drive on my laptop to burn the game. Now it works and installs. YAY!
