just wondering, before i start offering mod services i want to know if its illegal.
I know its frowned upon by M$, but is it really illegal or just the way people obtain there backups.

i will just be offering flashing services, no backups or any crap like that.
i just want everyone to have a freed 360.
thanx in advance

The Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) of 1998 (I think) made it illegal to circumvent copy protection on any device. By flashing firmware that circumvents copy protection onto a 360, you are violating that federal law.

Technically speaking, yes.

Of course if you have ever ripped a DVD you also broke the law then.

Don't bring attention to yourself and it shouldn't be a big deal.

Yep, that's basically what it means. Of course it all depends on your aversion to risk. Very very few people are busted for that each year in the US.

That being said, I personally am too risk-averse to try it.

wonder how much he had to pay? Also my friend told me he got banned from egay for selling modded 360's and the only way they would let him make another account was he had to send them a copy of his id and had to sign a contract saying he would not do it again. they also said they would report him to the government if he did it again.
