Issue Burning 360 Games

Hey guys, and gals. I'm a newbie to all this and so far have been able to flash my own xbox and wii, but here's my issue- My burner which is a DL burner can complete wii games, and says that xbox games are burnt successfully with both clonecd and imgburn, but they just spin in my xbox and make a succession of clicks followed by a prompt to open the tray. I know my firmware is up to date as I just used Jungle Flasher two weeks ago. This only happens when I try and use my PC, my Mac has no issues, as I have burnt Madden 10, NCAA 10, Leisure Suit Larry, and the new Batman Arkham Asylum games with no issue. I have set the layer break on imgburn although I have read that it is not necessary. the games pass through abgx without fail as well. (the games in question are Guitar Hero 5 and Ghost Busters.) I only use Verbatim 2.4x discs if thats of any use. also the xbox Drive is a hitachi e47. this is the first snag I've ran into thus far in what has been seamless operations with both the wii and xbox 360. When I put one of the "bad discs" into my macbook it comes up as a DVD_ROM and then the DVD player shows up with an xbox graphic that says to put this disc in an xbox 360 in order to play it

So your mac burns games fines, but your pc doesn't?. It might be the burner in your pc.

At first I thought that might be the case, but I have tried two different DL burners in my PC (the one that came with the PC) and one I bought at a computer store afterwards, and yes I installed all the necessary drivers and the new drive appears to be working, as I have successfully copied a number of wii games without issue, there's an issue with the DL aspect of it, and like I mentioned I even manually set the layer break in imburn.

As a new note, I have tried re burning ghostbusters on my macbook, and had no luck. the disc won't read on the xbox. so now, the issue is either to files themselves, or the xbox, but like I previously mentioned Madden 10, NCAA 10 and Leisure Suit Larry, All wave 3's work. Am I missing something here?

hey Drew i am having the same issue. what i have discovered is that i prob have 1.4 or 1.5 iXtreme firmware on my Xbox. means we have to upgrade to iXtreme 1.6 or i think even 1.51. Also, im not sure what you use to rip. i have a kreon to read my original games. what i did was i had to upgrade the XBC 2.4 to XBC 2.8 (Xbox 360 Creator). very good application. also use abgxbox360 to check the file. all my iso passed but since they are the wave 3 media now my xbox does not play it. i have to update my xbox. this can me the same issue for you. i am also having the same issues with Ghostbusters and Madden 10. i will try to upgrade my xbox 360 to iXtreme 1.6 if i find a tutorial on it today. hope this helps

Larry this is what I'm thinking, but Madden 10 and NCAA football 10 as well as batman arkham all work for me, and are wave 3's

Well first off, you sound like you know what you're doing, so that's a good thing. I assume then that you've checked the images with abgx. Have you actually checked the burned discs?
What you can try is test one of your burned games (that are bad copies) from your pc, and have either your mac or your pc check the burned game for stealth and verification.
(yeah, it's one of abgx's options to n ot only check files, but also check the burned disc). Let us know what it says when it checks a bad copy.

After downloading another game today (guitar hero metallica) and burning it with clonecd my xbox reacted the same way it did before. I'm beginning to think that its the unit itself and not the discs, abgx checked the disc perfectly clean after putting it back in the pc. any ideas as to why my xbox will play some wave 3's but not any I've d/l lately? Interesting side note, the past day or two my 360 has decided that it doesn't always like my backed up copies, sometimes taking 3-4 times to load

I'm with you. I have 2 360s one was banned a year or so ago while stupidly playing cod5:WAW wihtout verifying it online. Anyway, till the recent update i cud switch the HDD from one console to another and the profile would remain intact and i cud update with the chevos from the banned console. But than the latest update rendered my banned console useless for anythign but offline play with profile showing corrupted on LIVE console. So i got the other one modded as well which has a hitachi drive (mod with 1.6 version). But im trying all the previous games on this one and it keeps saying open tray.. even i reburned the old games at slower speed but to no effect. Other than verbatim i had one other disc brand SKY which works for a while and than gives error of unreadable disc.
I was told that i need to clean the lens with the dvd cleaner which i did but stil not even a single dectec of verbatim. SO now i'm thinking of switching teh drive from the earlier console to this one.

I did, and they all passed successfully, I think I must have flashed the drive incorrectly, altho I was playing NCAA 10 online this afternoon.

Hi,
I am facing somewhat the same issue. I hope this might get us somewhere.
I have sony-DVDRW DRU840-A which burns DL's fine. I burned quite a few games previously, such as GOW2, RE5 and quite a few others. They were all burned with the same procedure, abgx, stealth checking, making the .dvd file and used both clonecd and imgburn. Whenever I burned an additional folder known as $systemupdate never burned itself or the ISO never created this folder, there was a Audio_ts and Video_ts folder, and nothing more. I have no idea but recently this folder $systemupdate burns itself and there are three folders Video_ts, Audio_ts and $systemupdate.
I bet that you are facing the same issue. If you are not let me know I have asked this from quite a few guys and from what they have told me, get the new drivers. I am yet to try that, anyway the big question is my xbox is not playing these DVD's on the xbox and I am not using verbatrim so its not related to DL's. I have Ixtremem 1.51.

Actually after the latest LIVE update the newer games are all carrying the update via the $systemupdate in order to update the systems which are offline or not updated. The reason can be for the banned consoles to update to new NXE and render them useless to transfer the profiles to other consoles. That is my opinion on this issue. Regarding the other drive not playing i'm sure its lens or compatibility related as why it would play some other games and not any on verbatim disc.

oki but I do have an updated NXE dashboard. Even after the update I was playing games on it? And what you are saying is that all games are bearing an update from MS ???
So bottom line is ..I should upgrade to 1.6Ixtreme ????

The drive in mine is an older hitachi e47, the latest fw for it that I can find is 1.51, so that won't work for me.. I'm going to try reflashing my xbox either today, or tomorrow. unless someone has a better suggestion?

I would suggest to go ahead and update the firmware to 1.6
It's best to have the most up to date version. Then we can atleast eliminate some possible causes for the issue.

1.51 is the latest for hitachis. so dont waste to much time searching for 1.6.

would turning up the POT on the laser work? I have been lead in that direction, but am not sure how safe it is. I am mechanically inclined, (so too is the GF, She's reassembling my friends Wii as I write this.) either that or spoofing the drive into thinking it is not a hitachi but a lite-on. Any ideas on either of these plans of attack?

well here you go...I upgraded my firmware to 1.6Ixtreme and wollah !! the thing is working fino !!
I am sure now its do with the firmware drew.
