its basically iprep on a cd. put it in your PC drive, boot to it, it tells you to hit y, enter, and done. or some other inputs, but yea, basically iprep.

If flashing with jungle flasher, load ur original lite-on firmware as the source firmware. Then choose ix161-benq.bin for the target firmware, hit the spoof button, then write it to the drive.

And if by some chance u cant find ur lite-on firmware, you can read the key from the benq (if its already been spoofed) And load that as the source. Then just choose the ix161-benq.bin as target and hit the spoof button. I think jungle will automatically change the key and make sure it remains spoofed as a lite on afterloading the ix161-benq.bin

Whatever methods/steps you had to take when installing 1.6 or 1.5, they still apply for 1.61. So yes, you will need to do the half-open tray.

you dont use a half open tray method to flash a benq its the lite on that uses a half open tray method to flash.

I shouldn't have swapped my Samsung MS28 for a Lite-On 74850c. I just thought it's newer and should be more supported but that was a mistake.

? Unlocking the Drive Overview The BenQ Drive revision is tackled in a very similar way to the Samsung Drives. The steps to modifying / restoring a BenQ Drive follow the basic outline of:
? Reading the Original firmware
? Patching Key into hacked Firmware
? Erasing Drive
? Writing Drive
The tutorial will state multiple unlock methods, once drive is Unlocked / In Vendor Mode (0x73) you should proceed to the next step of reading the firmware from the drive. Now, we can proceed to modifying the drive. Power drive with it connected to PC via SATA then open JungleFlasher.exe. You will be presented with the Welcome screen. After a few seconds the main window will load.

Unlocking the drive. Before we can do anything to the drive, it must be in Vendor Mode (status 0x73), the majority of the unlock methods are found under MTKFlash32 tab, with the exception of Half Open Tray unlock, please read on for more details on the unlock methods. Half Open Tray Unlock for iXtreme 1.5+. If using a 360 to power the drive this method can be tricky to accomplish as the 360 likes to close the DVD Drive after powering it on. You need to power on the drive with the Tray Half Open ? To do this using an Xbox 360 as Power source, eject the DVD drive and then remove the power lead from the Drive. Close the tray half way and plug the DVD Drive power cable back into the drive, being VERY cautious to ensure the plug is the right way around. Using a Connectivity Kit / Xtractor to power the drive. The easiest way to do this is to simply use the eject button on your connectivity kit to eject the drive tray, power off the connectivity kit, push the tray half in and power back on the connectivity kit. Ok, now we half the half open tray, we navigate to MTKFlash32 tab if you haven?t already. Click Intro / DeviceID. If tray status is correct, drive should return good Flash Chip Properties showing status 0x73, Drive Properties

Your drive is a samsung so you use the samsung FW.
Load the dummy.bin (or whatever your orig key file is called from the benq)
Open target FW as 1.61 ixtreme
Click spoof to drive
Save the file
then write
sum1 already had stevedawg and stevedawg85 is longer than 10 chars :(

This should be the same process as all updates to 1.6 were. I'm waiting on Lite-On but I'll be patient and get what I'm expecting ;)

Any official reason that the Lite-On was postponed? In the past it has released with BenQ and Samsung. Now it is in Hitachi territory.

Just spoof it like you did before.
Load the hitachi OFW as source. Load the new BenQ iX 1.61 firmware as target. Then spoof source to target. Now write to the BenQ.

well you could read the jungleflasher tutorial. but hey, why would you want to do that....i highly doubt it would tell you the process to updating an already flashed console anyways.

Hi, I got a question. I have an Xbox 360 that has a Benq in it. The 360 does not work, but the Benq drive works fine. Im just saving it for parts or whatever. Anyway I took out the Benq and flashed it to 1.61 just to practice. Everything worked fine. Now the xbox 360 I use is a lite-on. It currently has 1.6 on it. Can I put my Benq drive in my lite-on drive so then I will have an Xbox 360 with 1.61. If I can can someone please point me to a turorial on how to do this. Thanks You.

Well you'll need to obtain the 1.61 for benq, read the lite-on 1.6 as the source firmware and load 1.61 as the target, spoof the lite-on to the benq then flash it to the benq. But save a copy of your benq firmware first just in case you get the 360 fixed and want to put the lite-on in it or another drive some time.
