So i sent my xbox 360 elite away for an ixtreme 1.6 update. When i got it back my power cord would not fit in the socket of the xbox. It is definatly my case, but i thought it could of been someone elses xbox.(such as the guy was doing multiple updates and put the wrong xbox in my case). So i took my xbox to a friends house and his power cord fitted.(apparently there are 2 or 3 types for different versions of the xbox). So i navigated through the dashboard and noticed that there had been a connection to "camerons pc" (not me). Also the serial number on screen does not match the one on the back of case. So i emailed the guy back and he said that he would never mix up xbox's and that the serial number changes when he does the ixtreme 1.6 update, is this correct???, and does anyone have any thoughts on what to do. thanks

I would be well pissed off, because if the power supply won't fit the console, that means that you've been sent on older revision of the hardware. Power supplies have different wattage ratings - 203 Watt (launch units and Zephyr), 175 Watt (Falcon) and 150 Watt (Jasper).

The PSU from an older console will fit a newer console, but the PSU from a newer console will not fit an older console because it might not provide enough wattage (older consoles suck up more power), which means you might have sent in a Falcon and got a launch unit back, or sent in a Jasper and got a Falcon. Older hardware revisions are more prone to failure.

You need to get the guy to sort it out and give you your console back. If he can't do that, he needs to at least give you the same hardware revision that you had before, or a newer one. NOT an older one. If you've downloaded any DLC or XBLA games, they will only work when you're signed into Xbox Live with the gamertag that downloaded them, because the console has changed. You can fix this by doing a license transfer on Microsoft's site, but only do this once you've got him to give you a console that you're happy with. If you get your own back of course, that won't be a problem.

Email him the a link to this thread, to let him know, that now you definitely know he switched motherboards, and that you'll post his info if he doesn't rectify his "mistake" ASAP.

If you say it's def your original case but the whole power supply thing makes it very clear 100% that he swapped your guts out. Find the guy and demand he give your original guts back.

That dude is such a idiot. Bad enough he tries to rip you off but didn't even know about the power plug thing with the different versions. Then says that flashing will change the serial, wow.

Please let us know how this ends.
