hello,
i am currently jtaging my 1st box for myself and am having a couple of problems.
1.i eventually got nandpro to dump on an old dell laptop with no errors and 1st time i opened the nand backups they opened in 360 flash tool.then i compared them in hex workshop and they didnt match.
now they wont open in 360 flash tool at all.
i have 4 nand backups now and it wont open any.
should i shorten my cable? / it was a 50cm cat5 cable with a coupler in the middle.
it is now approx 47cm long from lpt to points on the 360 board.
the nand im backing up is a xenon and i have the jtag diodes in place.should i disconnect these for now?
sorry for the long post i appreciate any help you can give

Keep the JTAG wiring in place, shorten you wire and double check you 7 LTP solder points and you will be golden :)
Let us know if you have any more issues.

had a bit of a nightmare i shortened the cable then it couldnt see it with nandpro.checked all my joints, replaced my resistors (which i have in the lpt connection) and my diode which is black band facing the board 1n4148 type.
today i have bought a new rj45 cable and db25 connection and am going to remake it. my solder joints all look good on pcb so im guessing its the other cable.
how many dumps to get 2 identical does it usually take?
i keep getting no errors from nandpro but when i compare them in hex editor they have differences then degraded says not good image.
the laptop im using is an old dell x300 but i dont have the bios password to change the lpt port setting.im going to remove the cmos battery to see if itremoves the pw.
i will let you know when i have tried all this waffle above.
cheers for the help

If you are going to redo the cable, simplify it. Use single core wire (not stranded like in a network cable), and attach to the 7 LTP wires direct from DB25 to xbox motherboard (so no ethernet plug like in the tutorial). You don't really need flash the NAND in the future for upgrades as there are now apps & tutorials available to flash the NAND directly from the xbox.
Regarding your cable length, I personally use a super short one, mine is about 25cm long so has to sit behind the PC when I dump.
In regards to comparing your NAND dumps, I use a program called Total Commander, it will give you exactly how many difference there are. BTW AKAIK Total Commander only works with 16MB NAND's (so not the new jaspers with 256/512 inbuilt storage). If you have the soldering & the resistors correct, you should get a good dump each time (so 2 dumps in total). If you just get a few differences in the dumps, dont bother messing with the soldering, just dump another.

ok so now i have another problem.
i have 2 nand backups nand1.bin and nand2.bin which check out ok with total commander, hexworkshop, degraded and xbox flash tool.
then i extract using the 2 following commands.
nandpro.exe nand1.bin: -r16 rawkv.bin 1 1
nandpro.exe nand1.bin: -r16 rawconfig.bin 3de 2
then i inject them into
nandpro XBR.bin: -w16 rawkv.bin 1 1
nandpro XBR.bin: -w16 rawconfig.bin 3de 2
then if i try to open them with degraded it says could not open file
i have flashed this bin to the console but when it is on the console wont power up.
what am i doing wrong??
it is a xenon with no hdmi late 2006 model.
orig dash 6717 i think
any help appreciated
nandpro.exe rawkv.bin

Your trying to open your kv and config with degraded? I don't think they would open because of their file size.
If you got matching dumps, read and injected your kv and config into xbr, then you can just flash your nand. You're ready to go.

i have tried what you suggested given it 10 minutes with the power off then the console wont power on.
then when i flash the backup of the original nand back to the console it works and boots.so i know my nand backup is good.i have downloaded xbr from xbins,as you saw above im tying the right commands for injecting kv and config so im at a loss

Is it possible for you to take and post a picture of your wiring? Also, have you tried changing your lpt port settings in your pc bios?

Good news, might take you a few writes btw, so expect a few e79's as it sounds like you wiring isnt 100% pefect. Also dont bother injecting the config file as suggested in the guide.
