When I download the hacked firmware for the drive I want to flash, i unrar the archive into my firmware folder in the JF dir. Do I need to delete anything else in there before I start flashing? like for example if I flashed a sammy drive then want to do a hitachi do i need to remove the firmware files for the sammy out of the firmware folder first?

No, you can have 1 of every type of firmware in there.
It will auto-select the correct firmware for the drive you are flashing.

If you need to spoof a drive in JF:

Load original firmware into source.
Load IX firmware for the drive you want to spoof to.
Click spoof source to target.
Get drive in vendor mode and flash.

If you are needing to spoof a Hitachi, you will have to look at the steps of the JF tutorial on pages 65-75.
